Sustainability

Gandhi Mahal is committed to being a sustainable business and an active member of our community. Our roots are in the Bangladeshi village that owner Ruhel and his brother Jamil grew up in, called Bahar Mordan, which translates to 'flavor village'. Their family was able to fully feed themselves and their village by living off the land, which immunized their community for a week from the devastating effects of the 1988 flood in Bangladesh. This experience taught Ruhel the true importance of growing his own food and living sustainably.
