Energy Efficiency & Zero Waste
While food is an integral part of any restaurant, Gandhi Mahal strives to take sustainability beyond the kitchen,
garden, and basement aquaponics system. Some of our restaurant-wide efforts include:
- Installation of a 30 kilowatt rooftop solar array and additional solar heating panels in 2018.
- Energy efficient lighting, heating & cooling systems, and kitchen hood ventilation, reducing our total energy usage by 80%.
- Zero waste practices including recycling cooking oil into biofuel, participating in the City of Minneapolis Organics Recycling program, and using compostable to-go products for all take out and catering business.
